Question

i think that this site indeed has plenty of information on Sony products, i really enjoy learning alot of knowledge as well, i have some simple problems which i appreciate if anyone can help me out or confirm on that for me. say if i want to put NW-A1000 on hold while it it being turned off, do i just press hold while it's on, then wait for 15secs then it is turned off, is that the only way to make it on hold while it is turned off, because when i walk, sometimes the player may turn on suddenly, secondly any good advice on how to clean the product well? thirdly how i can find out whether the song is being copied at 64kps, at preference option of connect software? also remote 35 has hold function, if i put it on hold, will it control the player as well

I think you're right in the only way to have the A1000 on hold while it is off is to turn it on first. Probably uses an electronic switch unlike most other portable audio devices like Minidisc players or say an NWE505 which can be placed in hold while turned off.

I clean mine with a soft cloth.

"thirdly how i can find out whether the song is being copied at 64kps, at preference option of connect software" - I recall that you can setup transfers with preferred modes in the preference options.

The hold functions on the player and remote are independant. You can put the player in hold but still use the remote to change things. And you can put the remote on hold and control the player with its own controls.
