Question

Hi all, I have a one year old sony vaio S series VPCS 117GG with the following config:

Intel® Corei5-520M Processor 2.40 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 2.93 GHz

· Genuine Windows® 7 Professional (64-bit)

· HDD: 500 GB (Serial ATA, 5400rpm)

· 13.3" wide (WXGA: 1366 x 768) VAIO Display, LED backlight

· NVIDIA® GeForce® 310M GPU with CUDA™ Technology

I have Microsft Office 2007 Enterprise Edition and Internet Explorer 9.

I'm facing a lot of issues with it since last month. Suddenly it become extremely slow. Sometimes it works pretty ok but all of a sudden it would become slowww. Typing in word, outlook, excel or for that matter anywhere, the characters would appear after a while, programs would run slow and not run as fast as they should.

Today the fingerprint login has stopped showing on the login page and even the slide to scroll up/down on the mouse pad is not working.

Called customer care and was told to clean up temp files, prefetch files, disable all startup items, disable Windows Update but keep Vaio Update enabled. Did not help.

I have already done a fresh install of the operating system. I have also run disc defrag, registry cleaner, disc cleaner etc.

Please advice on what could be causing this and what is the solution?

Thanks
