Question

Please help. I have been transferring tracks to my NW- A3000 from CD audio books. Some are up to 6 disks and must be played in the exact order that they appear in sonicstage but on the device they are completely random. I have tried renaming the tracks to a just a number which gives me 1-67 for one album but still no joy. I ripped each disc to appear under the one album. Can anyone offer any suggestions or help.

Thank you

When you rip the tracks off the CD you need to make sure that the Track Number field on the ID3v2.3 tag has been filled in. If this frame on the ID3 tag is missing then I think that the device will try to put the tracks into either alphabetical or (more likely) into the order in which they were transfered to the device.

You're welcome. Sorry I didn't get back to you faster on what the ID3v2.3 tag was. If the files are in MP3 format (ie .mp3 and not .oma or .omg) then the file is split into 2 parts: the music and the "meta information". Meta information is what holds details such as the title, the artist, the album, the track number, stuff like that. You can use a tag reader program like http://www.id3-tagit.de/ to view and change tags.

If its not an MP3 and its a OMA or something then it has an ATRAC tag. If you get down to the technicallities the ATRAC tag is basically an ID3 tag which uses the comment field to store its information. In either case you can modify both tags in sonic stage and also in connect player. The reason I call it ID3v2.3 is because it would appear that connect player (I don't know about sonic stage) can't read ID3v2.4.

Anyway, I hope that explains a little, may be a little confusing but thats how it all works :).

Have a further question which format do you rip the Audio book in ?

Or if you are downloading from a web site which format are you selecting MP3 ?

Looking at the Audio books sites non of them talk about Sony players !

Or is it that the Sony players are really only for Music files :o

I have also read some where that you can only bookmark 5 list with 100 tracks on each, is this only done from the player or can this be set up on the PC using SS v4.0

Any comments any one please

Reading a lot of reviews today on this site the A1200 / A3000 sounds really good, the problem I have we use a player both for Music and for Audiobooks and need to have both.
