I just tried to update a 4 year old KDL-46S5100 with firmware from Sony's website. The process began and stopped after the third progress screen. Now the TV is inoperable and probably toast. I'm writing just to warn everyone about this malware from Sony. My understanding is that because of the eeproms, etc. on the main board, once this software malfunctions, it corrupts the board and there seems to be no recovery from it other than replacing the board. Please beware - Sony "Support" is coming out of some third world country and is completely useless.
