Problem with my new NW-E005F

i got a new problem with new NW-E005F today as a present for my brother. and without reading the manual, he went and formatted the mp3 player first. and now when he wants to install the v2.00 firmware it won't install at all. the mp3 player keeps flashing the message "update error". the computer can't even detect this mp3 player at all! what should i do? thanks in advance for helping out.

It could the player had been formatted as NTFS whereas it should be FAT partittion.

From what I understand, any formatting of the player should be done using the menu options on the player itself, not via a computer.

If the menu options are no longer accessible, then I would suggest using the reset button on the player.

Keep in mind that I have never done this, nor am I an expert. Does anyone else have any input?

That is indeed the appropriate solution should one formatted via the PC. A reset should restore the player to its initial factory settings. If the problem persists, you should consider seeking your local Sony Service Center for help.

you should not format it using pc... theres a format utility built in your player pls refer to the manual
