My NW-HD5 display screen doesn't seem to work

i had bought a hd5 recently and they screen is blank the songs work fine i can even change the songs but i cant see anything on it its black just the backlight works and no text i want to put more songs on it but without initializing the harddrive the new sonicstage update wont let me please some one help me im despreate lol.. :sad: and sorry if i posted this in the wrong place im a newbe at posting in forums

Sorry for the delayed response. I will attempt to answer your queries:

It appears that the display screen is faulty. Utilize your warranty immediately - send it back to the retailer for an exchange or contact Sony for a repair service.

There's no way around this problem - you will have to initialize your unit before you can add new music tunes. The initialization issue happens when one upgrade SonicStage, or try to use one's device on a different PC.

There are many discussions about this issue within the "Software" section of the forum – where a user using SonicStage (regardless version number) especially of US or European region are required to initialize their respective ATRAC device for every version update. If you are updating from a US or European version of SonicStage, you will likely experienced this cumbersome re-initialization issue.

As I’ve mentioned countless of times – the only way I know of to avoid such tedious task is to utilize SonicStage Japanese, Asia-Pacific or the JEB (Overseas) version from the beginning. From my experience, re-initialization of the ATRAC device will never occur using the aforementioned SonicStage regional version. For your reference, please read this thread.
