Question

Have Sony VGC-LT 35E. with defective GPU. Would like to continue using the monitor but have no 15 pin monitor plug on the monitor.or on its motherboard. I am not considering obtaining a new motherboard for the VGC-LT35, but was thinking of a stand alone computer and using the VGC-LT35e as its monitor

Imputs on the VGC-LT are USB2, PCI, SD and PRO Chips and expantion card

Is this possible with a defective GPU and these inputs?

Looks like Sony pretty much crippled this unit by not including an HDMI input which seems crazy since they marketed this as a High Definition television/PC. Typical Sony Style...

Sony-VGC-LT35E

This Amazon.com description is from Sony from way back when it was being sold new. It seems pretty clear that your only options for video input are a coaxial cable television connection or S-Video.

It looks like you may be able to use it as a small TV or if the BD player still works use it to watch movies.

None of the other I/O options will give you a way to get HD video onto the screen.

I want to reiterate, this unit has a bad GP

I failed to look at the back of the unit, but when you mentioned s/video it jogged my mind. On the back it has HDTV/ATSC and UHF/VHF. Boat these inputs are Coaxial.

It also has A/V imput, This input looks like a headphone jack. Svideo, Infrared transmitter out, SVIDEO, S400, and Optical out Still did not see the 15 pin plug.

I know if you have bad gpu in a computer you can connect to another computer and get a screen. What I don't know if it is possible with this unit
