e00x volume boost - it's possible

Question

Hello!

I have just tested sony e005 and have found an easy way to boost the volume up. No, its not volume unlock, but...

You can boost the volume by simply going to manual equalizer menu and set all band scrollers to upper position.

I found no distortion with this setting. May be its because of the tracks I have listened.

However, probably, no distortion will occur at all at any track (it depends upon the way EQ is implemented in e00x) - may be someone else will test it?

If you want to boost bass more than other bands you may set bass scroller, for example to +5, while other scrollers to +3.

Regards!

:lol::D:D:lol:

I doubt that there is anyone here that doesn't know the equalizer

Ps: for best sound (personal thoughts) try +3(or lower for own taste) 0 +1 +3 +3

And about distortion, there isn't :). Allthough the bass seem to take over the higher frequencies on higher setup

Hi!

Well, of course, everybody knows about equalizer, but for me it was not obvious that using EQ I can boost the volume up 8-)

Now I have tested the device in different modes and I'm not sure that high EQ setting does not affect the music quality. I think it does. So I return EQ settings to normal position.

I have just upgraded to 2.01 firmware, and the thing seems to sound a bit louder. (not sure, of course)

However, I'm almost sure that volume limiter hack will NOT be available for this device. I think that its battery is not strong enough for higher volume.

I have tested the device on some high-volume-level tracks and found that it uses to dynamically reduce the volume on heavy-bass music fragments when in 100% volume mode. (D.Normalizer if OFF!)

It seems that it is an amplifier limitation.

Yes, please

I'm still waiting for someone who has got the service manual. And I still have a little bit of hope :)

I set "my" EQ to +1|0|0|+1|+3 and I can live with this volume. But it would be better if I would find out about this "volume crack" :D

well, you can't do much without the blueprints, since you need these to know the maximal outcoming DB and the IC types (which are sony's) for the firmware updating. Or go to hardware dissasemble, which takes a lot of time. So yea, service manuals are nice to have too here, if someone has em.
