0 pattojones
This should probably be a new thread....but....are Sony seriously telling us that you have to use this Sonic Stage rubbish to get tracks onto your mp3 player?!Whats wrong with pluggin' it into a usb port, opening the 'removable media' window, and draggin' and droppin' WMA & MP3 files from 'My Music' onto the flippin' thing?????I paid £20 for a voucher from the online music download section of a popular food retailer...can i use this to download tracks and drop them on the NW-E003? I seriously cant tell. Sonic Stage seems un-neccessarily complex...drag and drop, drag and drop!

I seriously cant tell. Sonic Stage seems un-neccessarily complex...drag and drop, drag and drop!Yes they are sadly, it's because sony uses their own format for author protective measures, meaning it's used as protection for the contents of music, so it won't be copied that easely (--> so people won't share music with eachother by using the mp3player). It's a pain in the ass, I know, Apple/Ipod also does that policy, but they have better software for using it. Let's just say, in these days big companies only demand one thing, big money and so you'll get these crappy situations like special mp3playersoftware and patheticly overprotected software. But there is some good news :http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2075Void is making a little program (it works now) where you just have to drag and drop, instead of making playlist, moving everything in the damn library and other crappy situations sonicstage loves to get you in .Ah and as for the voucher: if it's for ATRAC music, then it's ok, if it's for MP3/wmas, then it's ok too, however if it's an itunes voucher, then you're better off selling it. Hope that'll help ya Edited August 20, 2006 by dragulagu
Question
pattojones
Hello!
I've got one of the NW-E003's which is now stating 'FORMAT ERROR'.
I tried to format through windows explorer! D'oh!!
I tried to 'update' the firmware as per Sony's site and instructions, but i think it is only that: an update!
My question is this- Where do i get the v. 1.0 firmware from?
I figure if i re-flash it to version 1.0 then update to v.2.0 it should be OK????
The Sony helpline is only a MON-FRI affair!
Any suggestions and/or instructions on how to re-configure it to v.1.0? Where do i get the firmware v.1.0 exe. file from?
Many thanks
