Sony NW-E005F Firwmware Query

Hello, I´m new here. I have buy a NWE005F in Malaysia to France, and my surprise when it´s imposible to update de firmware from v1.0 to v2.0. The unit haven´t serial number and havent label in the lower side and in the information Menu, only says: 2GB and V1.0, and the 2 fields of serial and model, are empty. Please, do anybody know what can I do?

Hi again, the problem is that the unit has the Information fields in the menu of the walkman is like this:

1:------

2:2GB

3:------

4:v1.0

When I try to update, the program says that I need to connect the device, and in the next window says that "ther is not device to update the firmware"

I think is a factory unit (not production unit) withouth serial number and for this reason I can´t update the firmware. Somebody knos about?

How did you get the device in the first place? Did you buy it from a legitimate place? If it's a prototype, there's probably nothing you can do about it. You can try asking your local Sony service center, but it would be a risk if it's actually not a legitimate retail unit.

Hello, I bought my unit on ebay to a Malausian seller. The unit, tell the seller, is a retail baut hasn´t serials. Suggestions?

I don´t know. Somebody knows how can I enter in the player in the SERVICE mode to give a serial number to the player and can update it?
