The RM-MC40ELK perhaps will only provide basic playback functions for the NW-A1000/3000; likely similar to what the RM-MC35ELK does for the NW-A1000/3000 series.

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but, what do you mean by basic functions, as I'm interested in the MC35?

Are there any remotes with a screen that do work with the NW-A3000?

Ref the 40ELK if it helps this is what I have found with the NW-A 3000:

- Only two lines of the three line display work

- Stop, start, volume, and forward one track and backward one track also work

Thats about it. The moving up one level function that worked with my NWHD1 (eg changing from track view to Album view) doesnt work.

Essentially you get much as the same functions as the remote without a display, but with the ability to see the track name, or artist name, or album name along with time elapsed, track number etc

Does this help?

Just got an MC55elk and the screen doesn't work with my A3000... Is it a common problem or is it the remote?

Has anybody managed to work round this?

I also have an RM-MC55ELK and a NW-A3000.

When I checked the Guide to Remotes... I didn't notice any incompatibilities (it seemed that the MC35 and MC55 were largely identical) so I went for it and got an MC55 off eBay.

Most controls seem to work with my NW-A3000 (except the folder/search buttons which I knew about) but the display doesn't doesn't show anything.

Onlne information about the RM-MCx5ELK is hazy. Possibly because the unit is not sold separately. I haven't found a single page on a forum that says DISPLAY DOESN'T WORK WITH NW-Ax000. And wherever I look it seems that the MC35 is compatible to MC55 (only the 55 supports more language sets)

The PDF manual available for the MC35ELK states that it's officially recommended for the NW-A3000. But it doesn't have a proper Troubleshooting section. The only thing it suggests is replugging the remote and/or resetting the device via its RESET button. Neither of those seem to make any difference.
