OK

I messed up my mother's sony walkman NW-E105

She asked me to take off all the current music and put on a binch of new stuff.

I said ok [not knowing what I just got myself into]

I downloaded and installed sonictage 4.0????????. I went into that and i got error 000066a3!

It told me to get rid of evrything on teh walkman or reinitialize. So I went into the OMGAUDIO folder then went into 10F00 and 10F01 and delteing evrything!!! [i was thinking thats the music files]

Now all the files show up on the walkman but when you try to play them i get a 'FILE ERROR' on screen. i basicly said to my self "oh sh1t :excl: "

Now form what I have read reinitializing is basicly reformatting it and bring its back to its original state with out any of its formar songs on it. And thats exactly what I want to do! But will this fix the problem? and mroe importantly....

How do I reinitialize?

Any info would be great. Thanks alot!

For future reference, never delete contents within "OMGAUDIO" folder of the Network Walkman manually if all you intend is a reorganization of the music library.

As for your present problem, a simple re-initialization or a format will likely return your mother's NW-E105 back to its original factory settings. Review the steps as outlined below:

  1. Connect the Network Walkman in question to your computer and start SonicStage (SonicStage CP 4.0 in your case). Accordingly, the screen within SonicStage will switch to the Transfer (Network Walkman) screen upon detection of your Network Walkman.

Note: If the screen does not switch, you will have to switch it manually - point to the Transfer button and select the name of the connected device.

  2. Click "Device/Media Info" in the lower right of the screen and the "Device/Media Properties" dialog box will appear.
  3. Accordingly, click "Initialize" or "Delete All Tracks." A dialog box will appear for confirmation to proceed.
  4. Click "Yes" and a dialog box will appear for reconfirmation.
  5. Click "Yes" to conclude the initialization process and you should be able to transfer whatever music you desire to the NW-E105.
If the problem (i.e. “FILE ERROR”) persists, you may want to format the NW-E105 as outlined within page 32 of its Operating Instructions. For your convenience, you can refer to the screen capture of the page in question below:
