Question

i`ve just got my 706 and took it out today to see some mates. as i normally do i played some tunes on the way down while i walked.

on the way back i tried to play some tunes and it would not.

i could skip tracks fine, i could see the album art. but press play and the device just stayed at 00:00 on the display despite the player saying it was playing. the noise cancelling kicked in but no sound came out.

i tried everything and only a options->advanced options->initialisation has made it work again.

has any one else had this or was this just a one off glitch?

i need to be able to reply on my mp3 player to play correctly when i need it!

oh yea i had to listen to rubbish local radio on it the whole way home :(

The problem seems like a rare case, i own a unit and it's very functional and reliable, never have any problems (been using it for about 2 weeks).

you said it backs to working order after reset then maybe that's the solution. It depends on how frequently the case happen, if you only experienced it once then this shouldn't be a problem but if quite often then i suggest you request for a replacement since this definitely not the way the unit function

@dutchtrance:I f you again get this type of problem ,then i will suggest you not to initialize it again & ask sony for the replacement b'coz if you format it again Sony will not entertain your request .
