Question

I bought 2 NW-A1000's at the start of this and wanted a Bose Sound System style speaker dock for it. The best available was the pitiful SRS-10 5 Watt dock. However, the people from Sony shop showed me a picture of the CPA-NW001 Speaker Dock with an NW-A1000 sat on it, and said that they would be available from June.

So I thought I'd wait, but June came and went but still no news when it would be out.

So eventually I pre-ordered one and yesterday I went to collect. Great I thought, at last.

To my amazement when I opened it I found that it wasn't compatible with the NW-A1000 and it only works with the new S-series walkmans. When I tried to find out from Sony they denied all knowledge of there ever being this speaker dock (even though I've actually seen one and allowed to order) and said they have no plans to make one.

Does anyone know any more on this?

I can only assume that the delay in releasing these was due to the fact that they decided to change the connector type on the dock to a WM-Port which rendered it incompatible with a NW-A1000. If I'm right this is a real slap in the face for NW-A series owners. Only Sony could make a component that is not compatible with it's very own devices, this desicion will only cost them money in the long run.

Thanks

Not sure about that unit..

I do remember seeing the version in the UK that was destined for the A series, really no more than than a BC-1 with an amp and speakers built in...

Hardly worth shedding a tear over..

Get a BC1, it has plates to go on the base to fit the 1000 and 3000 models (using a 3000 here, so know this to be the case), set the deck's audio out to 'line' and plug in any good pair of active speakers or a proper amp and speakers into the line socket on the BC1.

Way better value ;)
