lowball
Hello everybody, I have a terrific opportunity for one lucky can-o-phile – brand new electrostatic headphone and amp – a Sennheiser HE60/HEV70 set! I have these listed on eBay under my username LOWBALL2000. The auction close is on Thursday. It is a no-reserve auction. Thanks for looking! The listing can be found at http://cgi.ebay.com/Sennheiser-HE60-and-HE...1QQcmdZViewItemor you can search for them using the term “HEV70”Here’s my description from the listing:Okay folks, I'm expanding on the description and condition of the item based on your inquiries and concerns; also added are the requested new photos. I suppose I was a bit naïve in thinking I could just place my item on the butcher counter and let you collectors decide its worth. I didn’t really consider specific details like a Buy-It-Now price and the definition of new condition because I knew what I had. Simply put it is (and cue the B&B theme) the Holy Grail for audiophiles. The proverbial zero mileage MB 300SL Gullwing. An unworn 19th century vintage Patek Phillipe new in box. You get the idea. Unless you can find a new (or even used) Orpheus system and have the $20K+ collector’s price handy, you can’t do any better than this. And to have to settle for this? You’d be lucky to have a chance to find out. I’ve seen used (as in not new!) HE60/HEV combos sell for well over my starting bid price in the past few years.C’mon, admit it. When you saw that there was a new HE60/HEV70 electrostatic headphone and amplifier system for sale on eBay, your heart skipped a beat. If I didn’t already own it, mine would too. I really didn’t think I’d have to do a sales pitch to such a small knowledgeable community of electrostatic enthusiasts. What I mean is I didn’t think I’d have to compete with the likes of iPod integration (ha!) or comparisons to the HD-series of stand-alone cans.Oh, in direct reference to an inquiry I received, I do not have any additional HE60/HEV70s for sale in the future. I wish I had a pallet full of ‘em. But I don’t. And I doubt that there will be any other new HE60/HEV70s on the market for, like, EVER. Once mine are gone, they are gone. As well as your chance to own these highly collectible headphones. Forever. And finally, to address the issue of the concern regarding the definition of new, as it pertains to my HE60/HEV70s for sale here, they are brand new. Not like new or in new condition. New. The only difference between mine and what you could have purchased from your local Hi-Fi shop (via order from Sennheiser, of course) when they were available is that mine have been opened. As a collector, I take every precaution in preserving the integrity of an item’s newness but due to the high cost of the item I had to verify that I was indeed purchasing the genuine article. These headphones have never been worn. I repeat, these headphones have never been worn. Not once. The amplifier has never been connected. The cables from the headphones, connectors, and power supply are still bound by the rubber band affixed at the Sennheiser manufacturing plant. When you open the custom-fitted hardcase, you are welcomed by the lovely aroma of rich leather and the finest German plastics and foam. I’ve opened the box a couple of times, literally. The only signs of private ownership are the open manufacturer’s seal (scotch-type clear tape with the Sennheiser logo) on the disposable cardboard box that protects the hardcase and amplifier.
