Question

Hello

I use player as metronome (left channel) and music back line (right channel). And all pauses in right channel have a strong click (from left one). In line out or headphones - both.

Wav in wavelab have no any even low level signals - all clean. In transfer settings I allways use atrac advanced lossless. and have no problem in sonicstage playback from player.

Is all bad as i see?!

I hope my unit is broken

Strange feelling - like thats a way its should be

If its so - i have no words to say.

STEREO = SOMETHING LIKE STEREO

If you please you can try simple test:

I made test file

and save it in two formats as wav 44 24 and mp3 320

http://rapidshare.com/files/13383323/stereo_test.rar.html

File contains 12 clicks in left (ONLY left channel) and then 12 clicks in right (ONLY right channel) and same again

If you takeout one of headphone (left or right) - after 12 clicks you hear total lack of sound (Silence)

Thats right?!

I ask friend of my to test nw-a608 and result is the same - no clean stereo

I have no full information (even in instruction) before buy toy named player and take money back.

Seems after cd or tape walkmans there are no more portable with fine sound.

sony's product orientation ...

Hi Ssasha, re-reading yuor post, I suddenly remembered reading years ago that lower kbs ATRAC use a kind of integrated stereo; not 2 channels seperated, but coded together fore efficiencyreasons.

The "lossless" has nothing to so with this, that only indicates the way it is stored on your PC in the SS-library.

So try again using f.i. 256 kbs Atrac 3+, which I think has proper seperated stereo (someone correct me if I'm wrong please).

I try it all and situation same. When i play music (any bitrate) from NW-A3000 by using sonicstage i have clean signal (if it clean in fact). Mix in headphone of a3000 out - ok, but same mix in line out - its UNLINE OUT. Line out has standart spec. Sony must tell about new standarts if they do.

Actually, slightly mixing of left and right channel while listening via headphones is greatly desired, and here's the explanation:

If you are at a, lets say, classical music concert, front row, piano is on your 10o'clock, but you can hear it with your right ear, right?

Same would be when you listen to that same music on your home HiFi, where that piano sound comes out just of your left speaker. You can still hear it with your right ear.

Knowing that, music is often recorded in that manner, and it sounds best on HiFi, where you have full spatial orientation.

So take that same music you listened on HiFi (and there it sounds great) and listen it on your headphones. It will sound unnatural, empty, you cant feel space between you and the instruments, coz it is just right ear, or just left ear. A while ago you could buy headphones which slightly mix and add delay between channels.
