Album ordering by Artist with NW-S706F

Please can someone help me here.

I have transfered all my music to the Walkman, but I am now having problems with ordering.

Basically I want to order the music by Artist, then Album. There is an option to do this in the sort, but when I select it, because I have a number of albums which are in effect "various artists", I get each individual artist from the album listed out.

I dont want this.... for example, Faithless latest album has a number of tracks with are Faithless featuring XXXXXXX.

Why cant I have this just appearing as Faithless... the album artist, rather than have in effect 7 or 8 Faithless instances for each track with a different "featuring".

The problem is even worse with a mix album... for example, in Sonicstage, a Hed Kandi album is listed with the album atrist as Hed Kandi... perfect, but ordered by Artist, then album on the player I get each different artist listed seperately....

This is driving me mad, and I've had to resort to ordering by album. (even though I'm bad with album names). I even tried renaming all the song artists in Sonicstage, but then it started putting them in new albums.

If anyone can help me with this it would be much appreciated... I'm either daft and doing something wrong, or Sony really haven't quite got this right.

If I'm not mistaken, I think iTunes does this too. (someone correct me if I'm wrong) When you search by artist, the software will assume you just want a specific "featuring" and not all Faithless material. Even if you've labelled them as part of a compilation. And, if you want to access the whole compilation, you have to look up by album title. This is just how these "jukebox softwares" work.

For renaming, I would try selecting every track, then rename both the artist AND album fields. Sometimes I've tried clearing the album field, click OK, then re-entering it, so I get a uniform album title. I don't know if that'll help, but SonicStage can be very sensitive to different spellings, spaces and stuff. Make sure it's all one "Faithless", not "Faithless" "faithless" and " faithless" and "faithless ".
