Johannes
Hello,I am rather confused. I used to use SonicStage 3.4, life was good. Then my computer crashed so I took the pleasure of wiping my HD and starting over again, so this is how I got the new SonicStage 4.2. Now strangely, when I try putting a few new songs on my Hi-MD, I only get the error code that I don't have the rights to do that. Strange, because it's a self-made mp3 (nothing from any shop), and furthermore in the properties dialog, it tells me that I have no restrictions and unlimited transfers, you name it.That was some months ago, and at times now I can transfer my mp3s (wavs have never been a problem so far), and at other times I can't. I have reinstalled SonicStage a number of times now following all the steps from the FAQ. Then I got the error Code: 00004e2e, which I solved following the description of the forum (copying the icv and maclist file from \SonyShared\OpenMG\restorable to \OpenMG).Does anyone know how I can solve this issue? Maybe somewhere I can get v.3.4 from? Thanks a lot,Johannes. Edited February 8, 2007 by Johannes
Adam Fasch
The only HI-MD models with mp3 compatibility are the MZ-RH10, MZ-RH910 , MZ-RH710 and MZ-RH1 (2nd gen really supports MP3 without conversion)>unlike the 1st gen HiMDs (NH600/700/800/900/1) that need SonicStage to convert (MP3->ATRAC 3+) first . Johannes
Hi Adam, thank you for your reply.I know that Sonicstage converts them to Atrac first. However, this is done automatically (unless they changed it somehow). Usually I just need to select the files in the library and then click on "transfer". However, I only get the message "Transfers are not allowed" - contrary to the properties displayed in the library...If I try to convert them manually I get the following error code:00000908-6127Cannot convert the specified track.Possible reasons may include:- The track (files) cannot be found- Sonicstage does not support the file format of the track- The track is copyright protectedLet me emphasize again: The file paths are absolutely correct. The format is mp3 VBR, not purchased anywhere and no protection, it used to transfer them without any problems.Actually: I just tried it now, it didn't work. I tried it again, it worked! Johannes
Ok, I think I may have stumbled over the problem. Maybe someone with a similar problem finds this helpful...I have no driver for my on-board soundcard installed, so whenever I try to play an audio file, my computer doesn't know how to handle it. Similar things seem to happen with Sonicstage when converting mp3 into attrac (as I said, transfering wavs never seemed to be a problem). The solution is: If I want to transfer files on my Atrac device, I need to switch on my external soundcard (or get myself a driver for my on-board chip...). Voilà. And that neatly explains the seemingly random behaviour whether it worked or not...In any case, thank you very much for your time looking at this thread, possibly figuring out what my problem might be.Johannes.
