Transfering My Library between computers without using Backup Tool

New to the forum and never really had a problem with SonicStage. BUT recently had to upgrade laptops for work rather quickly and only had time to grab all files in <c:/program files/sony/> and store on an external hard drive [all my music files - mainly MP3 already on external hard drive]. Therefore I did not use the SonicStage Backup Tool!

I have now installed Sonic Stage version 4.3 on my new computer.

How the hell do I:

1) find the library database file in all the files I grabed under <c:/program files/sony/>

2) allow SonicStage 4.3 now loaded on my new computer to open and access the My Library from my old computer (which presumably is somewhere in the <c:/program files/sony/> files

3) recognise the My Library database (ie what is the file name and extension and where does it hide).

Looking forward to a non-tech response for a non-tech head currently spending hours to understand the configuration and working of this My Library database.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

1) the base is in Progam files\common files\sony shared\OpenMG I think.

2) try in sonic stage File>import

3) see 1.

I do'nt know if you got your music on a DAP but if so, in Sonic stage you can import directly from your DAP, also with file>import.

Thanks for this. BUT

1) If I did not save files that were in c:\program files\sony shared\... then I have lost the My Library database?

2) In Sonic Stage the File>Import only allows the importing of music files and therefore not a full library. So not sure how I can import a My Library file or a DAP (Options under File>Import are Scan Folder... Music File... and M3U File...)

Also sorry but not sure what a DAP is?

Finally (sorry to raise more questions) - what are all these files under the c:\program files\sony shared\... address.

Thanks again in anticipation
