Firmware fails to update

Forgive me if this has already been discussed (couldn't find anything)

I have a Sony NW-A3000 (European), version 1.00

When I try to update the firmware to v3.00 I consistently get a "Failed to update firmware" message. The gizmo is fully charged and I am following the on screen instructions.

Any suggestions?

Did you try to update your player Fimware from some ohter Sony Support Site like like Sony Sony overseas ,Sony Asia Pacific ?

Yes, I've downloaded and tried the European, Canadian and Asian versions. All failed to update.

As mentioned on V3.00 upgrade procedure, I think you should upgrade to the A3000 with V2.01 firmware first.

I haven't tried v2.01 as the upgrade procudure on the European site says "Network WALKMAN NW-A3000 with firmware version up to 2.01". The sony.com site says "Confirm that the version listed is 2.01 or less". I have version 1.00 so didn't think it necessary to go via v2.01.

However, I'm willing to give it a try, but I can't find a download link for v2.01. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

I found the 2.01 file. It shows the same failure message.
