i am about to rip my music to the computer using ITUNES at 160 kbps AAC however i am wondering wether i should use variable bit rate.

i just want the best sound with not too large filesize, which is why i chose 160 kbps.

any views or opinions would be helpfull.

itunes aac vbr mode is more of an abr mode yet very good. tick vbr. good luck with the tags in sonic stage.

VBR is generally always better, no matter what format you're using. So long as the hardware you plan to use supports it (& it's a long time since I heard of a DAP that didn't). The exception would be when you want to force a really high bitrate for maximum quality within that file format.

Go with VBR.
