Hi - looking for info from anyone who's diagnosed and / or replaced the hard drie in an NW-A1000. Before anyone asks ... it's out of warranty .... and it was replaced once during warranty so am not best pleased. The HD started to play up .... and I tried the format option from the menu. After reboot the device complained that the HD was not correclty formatted. I've downloaded the service guides and ran some diagnostics .... any HD read / write tests would hang the unit. I figure there's something wrong with the drive. I've taken it apart and found themodel number (Hitachi) : HMS360606D5CF00 and part no: 0A40281.
There's a HD on Ebay at present for sale with same model number but different part number A040272. Does anyone think this will work ?
I'm a little worried that it may be a cable issue ... the micro ribbon cable which attaches to the drive has a couple of small "dinks" in it ... and on past experience, this is not a good sign.
Any suggestions for testing the drive out outside of the A1000 ?
