ElfjeTwaalfje
Yesterday I bought a NW-A805, a Sony to prevent the troublesome iPod ware. Nice player, bad-to-worse supporting software. I can understand why people avoid Sony for this.Anyway. First I was unable to install the SonicStage 4.3 software supplied on the CD. I got an error:"Installation process for sonicstage 4.3 has been terminated (2051,20703)"After intense searching and trying a lot of stuff a got a hint somewhere (I unfortunately forgot where, as to give credit to the guy or girl ;-). Here is the fix.It has something to do with a file being locked (as is normaly the case in any Windows operating system, Sony take note!)I downloaded Unlocker here http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/I looked for msvcp60.dll in the system32 folder of windows (c:\windows\system32)With Unlocker I unlocked all processes. On my PC two processes failed but that proved to be no problem (essential system process)Installed SonicStage 4.3 without a problem!Reboot (msvcp60.dll will be locked again)After that I connected my player and ... SonicStage crashed with an Omgjbox.exe error. Thanx to the solution provided by torpedo here http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3564 that was solved quickly (take care of the locking of msvcp60.dll)Took me a whole evening to do what should have been a breeze, blame on you Sony for releasing this kind of entertainment software.Hope this is usefull for those getting frustrated by Sony mallware.
