NW-A808: Problems importing/transferring music

Question

Hi,

I'm having trouble transferring my MP3 songs to my A808.

When I transfer albums to the device I nearly always get an error message that one song of the album could not be transferred. Unfortunately no reason is given for this. I checked the file names and tags, but everything seems normal compared to the other files of the album.

What I don't understand is that, as far as I noticed, only one file an album cannot be transferred while the other ones are OK.

I also noticed some problems with certain albums when importing them to the music library. When the error occurs the first file of the album is imported and the rest is not.

I'm using a brand new A808 with FW 1.02 and Sonic Stage 4.3. I would really appreciate some help here... :-)

Thanks,

Olli

Hi pomj,

thanks for your help. I saved one of the files with mptrim, but still it would not be transferred... :(

Then I deinstalled all the software and installed it again. After that, even more files could not be transferred. I just don't get it. I also tried using a laptop of mine. Same thing.

I talked with Sony support today, and they asked that I send them one of the files I couldn't transfer (they said sometthing about the signature). I feel like I'm doing beta testing for Sonic Stage... :(

I changed the owner with "takeown /f file.ext" but that didn't help...

However I downloaded mptrim from http://www.mptrim.com/. I just loaded the file and saved it again (mptrim cleans the file automatically) and now it works.

Ok, I found the solution myself... :-)

I remembered that I'd managed to crash the player the first time I used it :). The screen froze, and I had to do a hardware reset.

As it were always the first 3 files of an album that would'nt be transferred, I suspected that the problem would be somewhere in the player or the software, and not in the mp3 files. I decided then to format the player and restore the factory settings on the player. After that I had no more transfer errors!

I just hope that I'll not crash this baby any more... ;-)
