Question

Hello,

I have an old HD3 and bought a new HD5.

I would like to transfert all my songs.

The problem is: I lost all the files I had and broke my computer (with Sonicstage3.1). I was using this computer to transfert my files on my HD3 and had 16GB of songs.

but I still have my HD3 with all my songs.

I bought a new HD5 delivered with Sonicstage 3.1 too and new computer. But I'm not able to transfert from my HD3 to Sonicstage and then to my new HD5.

would you have a solution for me??

thanks!

Hi, sorry to hear about your computer. About the transfer of songs from your HD3 > SonicStage > HD5, it's not possible unless the songs are already in your SS library. I found this out the hard way a while ago when I deleted around 20 CDs from the library and naively assumed I could transfer them back from the 706.

If you still have the original discs, you could re-import them, but this time, use the SS backup tool as soon as your library is up and running again. If you have to get a new computer again or format Windows etc, then make sure you load SS on first, before using the backup took to restore the library. I'm fairly sure this is the way to do as I remember reading about it on here very recently. Sympathy from someone who's been there

I could import the songs on my A3000 to SS on my new laptop with file>import>music file. Then point the explorer to the HD-player.

My songs were DRM-free (originally ripped in SS2.0, and surviving all transitions and new PCs they somehow gott DRM-free).

I tried this. But nope, the files won't play. I guess that this has to do with the version of SonicStage that was used when the files was transferred to the player originally. MarC's HiMdRenderer works. But I guess that it only works with .oma files.
