Question

Hi Everyone,

Dose anyone know if it's possible to remove the volume cap on my NW-A1200 ? I've had it well over a year now and have never been impressed by the quite low level of the volume. I've read that most people should be happy with the level it is set to, but on the train the other day i herd someone else's MP3 over my own ! (both with in-ear headphones).

I'm not looking for it that loud of course but a little more than I have now would be so much better.....

Thanks for any help,

Regards,

Chris.

Chris, this link is for the A1000/3000 but it might work on yours too

That's worked a treat, thanks a lot ! I was getting to the point of using my phone as my MP3 player too (disparate eh?).

You did it already?? That was fast. How much difference in 'notches' did it make? When I removed the limiter from the NW-HD5, I gained about 4 notches worth of volume - not a lot, but enough to make it acceptable.

It still go's on the same scale (1-30) but i wouldn't be over estimating if i think there is about a 30-40 % increase at the top end. considerably louder by far.

I was quick to do it as i just hit re-fresh after a few minutes and noticed u had put it on and couldn't wait to try it. I've been searching the net for a while looking for it to no avail... I called Sony and for "legal reasons" they couldn't/wouldn't tell me how to do it, just..... "if you go on google you may find something....".

Sorted now i guess.

Cheers.

Sorry, when I said I'd 'gained' 4 notches, I meant I had 4 more to play around with, like the 30/40% you referred to. The scale stayed the same.

With the HD5 - the 'instructions' are in Sony's own service manual online, but I saw people charging for the free info LOL.

When you Google A1200, it doesn't come up, but I figured the A1000/3000 used the same method.

Anyway, main thing is it's done now.
