Question

Hi everyone,

I've encountered a problem with my NWZ-S618 Walkman that has in effect rendered it useless! Last night while in front of my computer i noticed that it was on a desk nearby turning itself on for a moment every few minutes, despite the music paused, power held down until the "See you later" message and the Hold turned on. After a few head scratching minutes of trying to figure out if a setting was causing the wake-ups i remembered there is a Reset button on the bottom and used it. The unit rebooted and all seemed fine until about an hour later when i went for my run. I turned it on, selected music and...nothing! No volume. Even worse that there was no longer a volume indicator at the bottom of the screen when i pressed the volume up or down. I restarted it to no avail, tried different button presses and combinations and still nothing. I reset it again and the problem still existed. I noticed that if i activated the hold and then pressed the volume button a message would pop up informing that the Hold was on, so the until was registering the volume presses but still no volume and the indicator missing. What the what! I ran without my music and during the walk home i turned it on again and the volume had magically appeared but has since gone missing and nothing i've tried will bring it back. I now wish i never reset it! Any suggestions? I looked everywhere for firmware as a possible fix but can't find any. The Walkman has never been neglected, much less even dropped during the eighteen months i've had it.

This is the player, not that it matters i suppose:
