Question

first of all hi to all,

Having recently purchased a NWZA-816,(superb player BTW!) i did know that there was no gapless playback, but i decided to take the plunge anyway. i might get some trance album, thats like 89 minutes long.. but they have to be listened to seamlesly...will there ever be a gapless playback option in a firmware update for the NWZAs?? or is it not possible??

it happens on the ps3, sometimes even with crossfade playback,( on mp3s and aac, not just ATRAC) so..is it possible, or will i just have to wait for the next player????

someone please?? its not too big an issue, as a large percentage of music ends in silence, but it would b good if there might be a FW update to allow gapless playback....

I think this has already been discussed somewhere on here. If I remember rightly, there are no plans for a firmware upgrade to enable it to play gapless. You have the Atrac-free model, which will not play gapless. Bummer, and it would be nice if the 818/808 could have the firmware upgraded to enable them both to have the same features, but it looks like an impossibility, so yes - you'll probably have to wait for the next player!!

So, you already know there is no gapless playback, yet you still buy it? :huh: Good luck in "hoping" for a firmware update, while there are other DAPs that can do perfect gapless with MP3 and AAC readily available. Why don't you just buy a DAP that actually capable of gapless playback in the first place?

Crossfade != gapless.

please sony!

(if its possible that is)

It IS a big issue, at least for me. I will never buy a non-gapless player. So goodbye, Sony!
