Question

Ahh! Someone please help! I feel as though I'm going down dire straits drive with sonicstage.

I'll explain: I have an NW HD1 which I have owned for some years now and have over 3000 tracks on- and now is showing signs of old age. I am thinking of getting another mp3 player and as you can imagine I do not want to try and get all those CD's and rip them onto the laptop again. I have read online about how to convert ATRAC to mp3 format (which is a nice standard format for other mp3 players) however this does not work. I have also tried using AVIO software and newer versions of sonicstage, no luck. Apparently I need to format my HD1...no way!

On sonic stage there is a facility which allows me to transfer files on my HD1 back to the computer (backwards arrow), so in theory I could do this, use converting software to change them into mp3 format then onto CD and hey presto! No. I'm not sure which idiot devised this, but I can only tranfer files back if I use the original computer! This is stupid(as if sonicstage wasn't bad enough!). I have used a PC for many songs- gone. And I have used my laptop which has recently had a new hardrive due to a fault (drive, gone). So how the hell do I get my files on my laptop?? Has something slipped by?

I have tried everything I know. Opening the player and files in explorer, copying over to laptop, then converting dosen't work either.

There dosen't seem an easy way of getting my songs out of my player (or copied) and changed to a simpler format which I could then use for other devices.

(I thank in advance for anyones help)
