DHbiker
Hey Guys,Not new to the forum but a first post for me. I am switching computers soon and I want to transfer SonicStage over to the other computer without losing how my music is tagged, since SonicStage is notorious for scrambling albums(meaning once I imported my music I had to manually change the songs title etc so they would all be in one album before i put it on the HD5). I know I have to transfer my music source as well. Is this even possible to do or do I have to start from scratch and import my entire library again and sit down for hours making sure the music is correct...? Any help greatly appreciated, sorry if this has been covered.

Do you have an external hard drive you can back up on to? When you get the new computer, download the latest version of SS BEFORE you use the backup/restore tool. Once you've downloaded SS, then use the backup to tool to restore your music from the location you saved it in.1. Back up existing library to an external hard drive (or similar)2. Download the latest version of SS on the new computer3. Use the backup tool in SS to restore your library from the saved locationI've done it this way many times and it always works without screwing up any of the album art or tagging. Just be sure to do it in that order so that your database can be authenticated.
DHbiker
Thank you juli. I will try that and hope for the best...sounds like it should work. I do have an external HD. By using the SS backup tool, I'm assuming it backs the library up specific to the SS software, not the music files? Because I do have all of the music in a folder right now, which is where I am pulling it from into SS. I will transfer that over as well, but I'm assuming it's not reading from that folder after it is entered into the SS library? Anyway, I will do what you said, sounds good. So you just drag it across to SS when you need to transfer music? If that's the case, drag everything into the SS library before you back up. If there's anything that doesn't get backed up, you'll get a message at the end saying something like: "xxxx tracks could not be backed up". The default location for saved/imported files is C:\ProgramData\SonicStage\Packages\. Make sure you haven't changed the location!
DHbiker
I don't drag, i import from this specific folder. Everything I want backed up is in SS right now, so I am using the tool as we speak to back up the current library. Once I get the new SS, I will recover what is backed up (my current library in SS) then I will put the folder I import music from on the new comp. This way I have the current library recovered, and if need be I can import from that folder again. Does this sound correct?
