Question

I've not-so recently lost the charger dongle for my beloved Sony NW-HD3, and wanting a new one- I've looked around. And when I finally find one, it's a tad bit expensive- for a piece of plastic at least. At that cost, I've actually begun to wonder about if it's time to get a new player, in which case I've looked around and found a model that is affordable to me which has gotten quite good scores for it's sound. Being a studying fellow without a work to amass money from, I can't just get the most expensive model I can find.

So, what's this model? The NWZ-A810 8GB model looks nice to me. It has gotten great scores, should be about the same as the 820 apart from the design and some minor details. A guess is that there's a 710 model as well, without bluetooth- but it's sadly not available in europe.

So, the question is- for anyone that has tried both- is the sound quality in the newer Sonys a large step ahead of that in the NW-HD series? I've heard good things about the NW-HD's, so I'm wondering...

If the quality of the NW-HD series is good enough- I'll be getting a new charger adapter, but if the step is humongous I'd add about $130 get a new MP3 with 12 GB less memory. What would you do? Does the NW-HD's compare to the sound quality of today's high-end mp3's?

And yes, I'm going to get a pair of expensive headphones and a portable amp to fit with them later on....
