Is the N10 just an exploit?

I'm wondering if the N10 recorder would be just an exploit to celebrate the ten yrs anniversary, and some of its features would go back to 'older' sony standards (lithium batteries, for example) as new models will pop on the market. I think that some things like the new smaller optical pickup would certainly remain, allowing smaller recorders for the future.

And by the way, do you think that Sony would launch new models (recorders) before 2003 fall? I want to upgrade my portable recorder and right now I'd go for the N10 (whenever the world model comes out), but... what if a new cheaper recorder with no ominous plastic bulges on the back comes out (eh eh, that's why i kept clear from 505 and 707)? :)

What do you think about it?

I would hope that the other manufactures of MD units decide to employ the Li-ion cells in future models - much better than NiMH.

Sony generally releases new models around this time of year (announces them earlier). I believe that the 2003 models are the N10, R910, E10, E710. I haven't read of Sony releasing anything else soon. It is possible that successors to the R/G/N7XX and R/N5XX models to be announced/introduced earlier next year. They usually are.

Also, the only big differeces between Jap-spec and World-spec units are a 220V adapter, instead of 100V, and a slightly larger english section in the manual.

wAZZZZZZUP!!

well i dont know, its yet to be seen if sony will use the new batterys in the newer units that come after the n10, if its just a special battery like the one in the r50, then it can cause problems later on.

I'm just trying to remember when the American "fall" is... :(

 About October right? 8) (I love these emoticons  )

I'm guessing they release their big models (figuratively speaking) around now to be ready for Christmas/New Years. Then they take a bit more time to trickle into the US. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

'Styler, does a June release still make the R910 count as an '03 model?

I'm on holidays.

Same here :D

I wanna go play with an R910!

Actually, what I want to do is go into SonyStyle with my E710 and hang around the MD section with the dudes who own jaguars and the like.. In sandals and boardies and a skater shirt

Holidays, are Shweet.

Apparently, the E505 is a 2002 model? is that correct? it seems out of place.
