Hi there ;)

I've recently recorded a disc from my sony MZ-R900 via a soundblaster live on my pc. Now that i had this very huge .wav file i wanted to convert it into a compressed smaller one.

The problem: im not very happy with what my MP3-Encoder (lame) did with this file.

After the encoding there where some fragments on the disc - which seemed to me that atrac3 and mp3 is not quite compatible...

Does anyone have a recommendation on which codec to use instead?

thanks

so long

Once the music transferred to the computer, the notion that it was once compressed using ATRAC no longer applies. The resulting wave file is uncompressed.

MP3 is the most universal and compatable format going. LAME make a respectable codec. I recommed you try it again, but this time step up the bit rate to 256 or higher. It will make all the difference.

yeeeeeeeeah that problem has nothing to do with ATRAC3 compatibility or whatever. Once the song is in a wav file, it doesn't matter where it came from. if you try again and it still sounds like crap, it's likely your computer's fault. If it's worth the trouble and you have a cd burner, burn the wav files onto a cd and then try using another computer to encode the files. If that doesn't work, then I suggest calling the magical fairies to come bless your computer by doing a spirit dance.
