Guest Anonymous
I'm in a small choir and would like to record practice sessions. What would be an inexpensive unit capable of this? I would also like to record CDs from stereo or iMac. Thanks, Ken
Rob
That's how I use my Sharp MD-MT831. I recommend the Sharp because it has better features for live recording. If you are in North America you will have to order one from abroad or from an unauthorized importer, as Sharp USA has stopped distributing MD. MinidiskHK currently has a deal on the MT770. Minidisco in California also sells them, if you prefer to deal with a US company; they also have a storefront in San Francisco. Don't forget to budget for a microphone and mic stand. Mystyler
I could also recommend the MT190 - Sharps "top" budget model, and does almost everything the MT770 could. Should be alot cheaper than the MT770, and should also be available (in small numbers, though) in North America - it has been reported to be seen there on a number of occasions. Guest Anonymous
If you can't find an MT190, an N707 or R700 would also be fine. I don't really think for practises on the fly adjustment is necessary.. (as you wouldn't really wan't to have recorded differing levels? You adjust it in pause mode, then press record. Guest Anonymous
Aside from the car kit and net MD, whats the difference brtween the Sony 700 and the 707?
Mystyler
Ken, I'm assuming you are in the US? If you're not, the N707 comes with an LCD remote, instead of the stick remote with no display, unlike the R700. I also believe that the N707 features an adjustable equiliser, while the N700 doesn't. Bazirker
Ken, there are several differences in th MZ-N707 and the R700. The 707 has ATRAC Type R, meaning your recordings will sound better. you can adjust bass AND treble and not just bass in an equalizer on the 707 but not the 700. The 707 has group function, while the 700 does not. All around, I think the N707 is a far superior unit to the R700 despite their seemingly minor differences...plus having NetMD just rocks ass.
