Guest Anonymous
I have recorded some tracks on my minidisc using a microphone and would now like to burn them on a cd so my friend, who doesnt have a minidisc can listen to these tracks. I only recently got a minidisc and that was the primary reason I bought it! But now I find out you cannot "check-in" to your pc when you record from a microphone. I have a separate USB cd writer - is there anyway I can record directly from the MD to CD? Also, if you record a track in LP4 mode, can you change it to normal mode later? Thanks
Mystyler
http://www.minidisct.com/forum/showthread....=&threadid=2496 This is the only way at the moment. :? Once recorded, you cannot change the recording mode.
Guest Anonymous
If you want to upload MD digitally to your PC you need 2 things at this moment, first : a deck with a optical out (I have for example the Sony MDS-JE640, this one has an optical out) and second : a soundcard with an optical in !!! The only other option at this moment is by the analog out (but here you will probably have some noise added, but this shouldn't be to much of a problem I guess). Recording with LP4 is no problem if you are recording sound with low bandwidth (only voices for example) For music SP is more advisable, with an 80 min. MD you stil can record a lot, no band is playing for 80 mins continues so there should be time to change to an empty MD.
Andy
I once had to get some stuff from MD to CD, and fortunately for me, I have a brother who does sound "stuff". I borrowed his professional CD burner and used it. A single cable connected my MD to his CD recorder, and all was fine. It did it in real time which was no problem and the recording was fine. Whether or not this is a practical solution for everyone is another thing, but I would have a look around for CD recorders which have a line in. The unit I recorded with was about AU$1200 I think (about US$600 I'd guess)
Jason
I hooked up my minidisc deck to a CD-R Audio recording deck. I used the analog ins and outs. The optical ins and outs were not working for some reason. It records in real time, of course, and you have to insert the track marks manually on the fly. I just recorded the whole minidisc as one long track onto the CD-R Audio disc. Then, I ripped the CD-R to my computer's hard drive as a wave file and chopped up the wave into tracks using a wave editor. I could've recorded straight into the computer, but (1) I didn't have a good sound card, and (2) the computer sometimes slows down when the RAM is filled up.
