Mystyler
Xoni, the N505 lacks a mic jack, IIRC. You are trying to record via the line-in jack? To do this, you'll need a battery box for your microphone (to provide it with power) and then connect it to the line-in. Models that feature a mic jack supply power to the microphone, enabling you to record directly from the mic to MD with minimal fuss.
xoni
hi the aiwa microfon has an battery power supply. wo i thought i can record with that one...
KJ_Palmer
The little battery just drives the microphone itself. It doesn't give a line level input to the MD, which is why you need an external battery box or pre-amp. The 'plug in power' on other units has this already built in. xoni
aha yes... what type of preamp i need (best=model of a company) or did anyone knows a microfon which has such preamp built in?? thanks for help
Mystyler
xoni, perhaps I could suggest www.soundprofessionals.com to you? They have battery modules and pre-amps, among a host of other microphone related goodies.
xoni
i live in germany and i think i like a more common microfon that is saled in stores here. also the mic from soundpro is a little bit too expansive. but i find nowhere else a mic with preamp bulit in... any help
KJ_Palmer
I'm not sure if there are any, it would be fairly bulky as pre-amps are usually driven by 9v PP3 batteries. Just a suggestion, but it might be better in the long run to get a 'cheap' MD recorder with a microphone input. I don't know if you can 'upgrade' your N505 to a N707 say, or for example here in the UK you can get a Sharp MD-MT90 for £90 in the shops. That would be better anyway than a Sony for live recording.
