Hi guys!I m a heavy MD user and rather frustrated from the way things goes for todays portables. Companies don’t seem to care about anything else except size and battery life these days. :x a friend has the Sony MZ-1 and it looks (and weights!) like a war tank next to my MZR-900!.I use my mzr-900 for a year now it’s a beautiful unit but obviously not what I want and need: solid, brick-like construction and a dedicated line-out.is there any place where I can buy a new “old school” unit like MZR-50 or a Sharp 821/kenwood DMC-K9R?.A friend has a mzr-37 and I can buy it from him if I failed to find a top of the line unit like mzr-50 or 821.

I doubt you would find any new R50s. They are 1997 models! But for a used one, there are plenty of R50s for sale, other than that, there are R30s. I see R50s go for about US$50->US$150 depending on accessories and snipers etc wink.gif. Most of them only ship to the states though  rolleyes.gif

Mecano, ebay is indeed the best place for old-schoolers, and the prices are ridiculously cheap.

If nothing there takes your fancy, then the R37 is basically a "budget" R50, with most components in common. The headphone amp may disappoint but the line out is great.

Ask me, he should know. biggrin.gif
