If not does anyone know where I can get another remote like it that has the AVLS switch on it??? My old remote accidently got smashed in my truck. Thanks in advance. Anyway, occording to the manual, the remote is the only way. Of course there has to be others. I'm sure you could change it through service mode, but you'd have to no exactly where, and that's not the kinda thing you play around with. If the AVLS button follows standard remote specs, than it is just a resistor with a certain Ohm value, and if you could find that value, you could get a resitor to match and emulate its function. more info here http://www.minidisc.org/part_hacking.html. If all else fails, you should be able to reorder from sony here http://servicesales.sel.sony.com/. All you need is the part number, which I assume is rm-mz3, but it should be on the remote.
