kewbonium
I have a Sony MZ-R700, and I used the guide to add some of the R900 features to it. After I added these features, I noticed the battery charge feature was mysteriously gone! Needless to say, I was baffled. I used the OTHER guide to reset it back to its original state, but the charge mode was still gone. I would really like to have this feature back, and if anyone knows how to fix this I would appreciate any help. Yeah, this should probably be in the 'troubleshooting' section but it doesn't look like that section is very heavily viewed, so I put it here. Thanks, Daryl
Mystyler
Daryl, you seem to be the second person here that this has happened to. It appears (not totally sure) that the unit is stuffed, somehow. Others have tried the R700 hack and can still charge their batteries. Perhaps try this: http://minidisc.org/sony_mzr_reset.html It may work. BTW, the trouble shooting section is a day old at most, so that's why there isn't anything there. kewbonium
Yes, I used that guide to restore my player back to its original functionality (minus the charging mode). Does anyone know if there is a list of what all of the Test Mode settings correspond to? It's quite possible that while I was fiddling (yeah I'm guilty of fiddling) I may have actually disabled it. I heard something about a list being developed, but I'm not sure. Thanks
kewbonium
LOL I must be the luckiest guy ever. I was doing some more of that fiddling (yeah I should have that problem checked out) and I remember what the writer of the guide said about there being 'macro' settings. He said they ended in 'CC' in the Manual section of Test Mode, so I went in and activated ALL of them (except the ones that deal with resetting the NVCore) and it worked! I have charge mode now. Guest Anonymous
looking at the amount of times this thread has been read i'd say its quite a common problem :? shame no one has the solution, got the same problem with my md unit, i followed the hack guide to a t, worked great apart from the charge, maybe its not that certain people messed it up, but its a certain batch or version of the mz-r700 that this happens too still, as its only a few numbers that we changed, surely its possible to just change the right number back to what it should be? hope someone solves it soon, great hack, just would like to charge it again, batteries are getting an expencsive cost  fraggle
woodeeee
still no news? thinking maybe its time to give up and fork out for the hi-md when it arrives
Christopher
There's limited support because Sony won't touch it and only few have mastered the EEPROM settings of these units. If you encounter this problem, the only thing I can really recommend is to reset the settings and try again, or buy an external battery charger [cheap]. woodeeee
hmm, i tried resetting the unit several times with the same result 1. i read somewhere that the charge feature is controoled by a peice of hardware, no idea hgow to alter this 2. i read in another post on here that a CC macro will reset the charge mode, havnt been able to find this as yet think hi-md is the way to go s
Christopher
I would just buy an external battery charger [like I mentioned above], but "upgraditis" is cool.
