I'm currently using the setup: mic=>batt box =>line in. the levels are very low - which isn't a huge problem in itself (I still get pretty decent results after normalizing on the computer) - However, there is that auto track mark after 2 seconds of pause - and I don't see anywhere in the manual where I can turn it off (I'm using a Sony Mzn 707, btw). I'm not talking about the auto track mark after 5, 10 15 minutes thing.

Any ideas?

I'm very new to the whole minidisc scene (just got my first player/recorder about a month ago) but I have some previous experience with analog and digital signal processing. Have you thought of putting a pre-amp unit in series between the battery box and the line-in?

If you want to keep things simple, I think that a few companies out there sell battery boxes with pre-amps built-in. I know that Sound Professionals, available at www.minidisco.com (and elsewhere) make such a unit.
