Guest Anonymous
Hi, I live in the UK I'm planning to bring back an MZ-N505 from America in a few weeks time. I was just wondering what the power issues are between US minidiscs and UK ones. I would imagine using batteries from over here in the UK is fine, but what about the power adapter? Will I need a whole new cable/adapter, or can I just use one of those wall plug convertor things? Or, even worse (:?), is there some power restriction on the MD unit itself which will mean I simply can NOT plug it in in the UK? I need help! I'm going on Dec 24th!
me
You'll need an adapter for UK power.. Whatever the UK's voltage is, is it 240v? yes, using batteries from the UK is fine. 1.5v AA's or the 1.2v rechargeables..
Guest Anonymous
I have the same problem, bought a Sony MZ-N505 new but on import from the states through ebay, cost me 80 GBP including shipping but of course it comes with the US power supply. I can use batteries of course, and for play back the battery life is might fine but when recording, when the battery runs out the entire session is lost. High Street retailers don't stock the sony power supply but I was referred to a website that does replacement parts but the actual dedicated power supply is listed at 105 GBP. I guess they have realised that the models which sell for 180 GBP or more here are being imported cheaply and are thus stinging us badly. Anyway my question: will any 3v sony minidisc power supply work, where can I get one for a reasonable pirce and can I also get a remote control for it?? In the UK of course Many Thanks
Guest Anonymous
I don't know about using another Sony power supply, but the cheapest and simplest solution is probably to buy a step-down transformer from Dixons or another electrical retailer. That way you can just use the US power supply in the UK. Cheers, Mike
anodize*skyther
I don't think the 505 comes stock with a power adaptor, neither am I sure if it has a dc in as it doesn't come with a charging kit...
