Need MD recorder/player good for interviews and uploads

Hi,

I need to find a good way to record interviews, then edit on PC and convert to a variety of file formats (in Sound Forge, for example) and upload the resulting files to my web site. Final file types likely to be wma, mp3, realaudio.

Is there a MD player/recorder that fits the bill? Or will I need to get a recorder and a separate deck to handle uploads? Is MD format a good solution for my need or is there something better out there?

If you have any model-specific suggestions, please let me know, as I am on a tight schedule (read desperate) and will not be able to sort through all the possibilities myself in such a short time.

Also, please recommend a mic that would be suitable for reporter-style interviews.

Many thanks!

Regardless of the recommendations you receive, one fact remains: in order to upload the recording to your computer, it will have to be done in "real time". In other words, no MD portable is available (yet) that will upload material any faster than the original length of the recording.

With that in mind, it doesn't much matter which portable you get if you stick with typical music units. There are, however, units designed for broadcasters. Check out this link: http://www.minidisc.org/pro_table.html Spcifically the Marantz and HHB units.

I would also suggest searching out memory based recorders for recording interviews. Not only do they possess plenty of frequency response and dynamic range for voice recording, they have something that MD does not: high speed uploading to the PC. Here's a couple of links:

Less expensive: http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/...28MB&type=store

More expensive: http://www.maycom.nl/products.html
