hippietim
So I'll stop being hopeful and forget about wanting digital or even balanced outputs in a portable MD recorder. What unit should I be looking at for around $200-300 for live music recording? My usage will be direct line out from a mixing board when I play with a few bands and occasionaly via a microphone at concerts/clubs/shows. Guest Anonymous
Try a used sharp because they allow you to change the recording level while recording. It would be ideal to get a model with a microphone input for recording with mini mics. The way you would want to set it up is plug a 20db attenuator cable into the mic input and then into the attenuator cable plug in mics and battery module. Mystyler
If you can source one, the MT190 from Sharp is a little gem.
Guest Anonymous
You can get a Sharp MD-MT200 from soundsprofessional.com for about $200. I just picked one up, as my tried-and-tested MT821 just died.
