Hi,

Been browsing the forum for a few days. I have gained much information, and I thank you all.

Im just curious about everyone's opinion of the different microphone companies and the products they sell.

Who do you like? Soundpros, Mic Madness, Core Sound, Stealth Audio?

My price range is up to $300 dollars for a good set, and I will be using it to record at loud rock shows, with a Sharp DR7 recorder.

A few other concerns of mine: Do you have to have an attuenator cable when recording from a soundboard?

And also I know that Cardiods eliminate alot of the ambient crowd noise, but aren't as good as Binaurals with treble.

Is it possible to get good highs out of Cardiods?

Any information is useful. Thanks.

I Myself like Stealth Audio, I bought their premium binaurals with battery box (with a bit of custom work) 2 months ago and I love their mics. My friend owns a pair of sound pros mics and we taped a show together both using binaurals standing side by side and we both agreed that the stealth audio mics sounded better. his turned out a little distorted. My friend is now always asking if he can borrow my mics.

Plus with the money you save you can spend on concert tickets.

stealth audio also did custom work for me i wanted clips on the mics and they put them on for free I also wanted a 85Hz roll off on one box instead of their standard 120Hz he also did that for free.

they have my thumbs up.

I Have been using Core-sounds for almost 2 years now and i have made many great tapes and a few not so great ones(but not the fault of the mics) Before that i used sound professionals and was happy with them but they would distort about 20% of the time because some shows were too loud. I didnt have that problem once i switched to core-sounds the one thing that was a slight drawback to the cores is they did not have a level control option on their battery modules.

ah well

Thanks for the praise Mike

Im going to try to be partial here.

All of those companys microphones use the almost the same microphone elements made by panasonic. The one difference is that core-sound and stealth audio(on our premium line) modify the microphones to allow them to record louder sounds the modification also cuts down the self noise (the slight hiss the capsules make). Our prices are alot lower than core sound's, for the well below the price or one of their sets you can get a set of both our premium cardoids and binaurals and a battery module. We also carry the same warranty as core-sound, We also offer a 30 day money back guarantee.

If you have any questions send me an email to Stealth_audio@canada.com

Thanks

I recently ordered a set of premium binaurals from stealth audio to record a few shows to minidisc. I must say that I'm very impressed with the sound. I found there to be no distortion levels during a loud show. I'm very impressed with the way the recording turned out. Scott, was very helpful in selecting the right set of mics for the concert I went to. thanx scott, I'll be a customer in the future! When I need a set of cardiods, I'll see stealth audio for all my recording needs. there prices are great too, with the money I saved i got to see my favorite new band, Zwan.

cheers

Chris

I've been using a set of SoundProfessionals binaurals in croakie mount for 4 years or so. They're terrific, and everyone who hears the recordings is always amazed at how realistic and clear the music sounds. (Being a Celtic musician, the only stuff I record is live traditional stuff, so extreme sound levels aren't usually an issue.) I've recorded concerts, band rehearsals, jam sessions, masterclasses, etc... and they're all crystal clear and 3-D. It's especially helpful when you're trying to dissect/post-mortem a gig and find the mistakes...
