doclloyd
I recently acquired a MZ-N10 last month. It's been doing great as a NetMD recorder, but I'd like to start using it for lecture recording and capturing other sounds... however this won't be a full time gig for it, so I was wondering what mics would be good to get started with (ie. not a ton of money but worthwhile)? I've read all the stuff about Sony's and automatic gain control, etc... Anyone have good experience with particular mics with Sony MD portables, or even more specifically the N10? Thanks.. Guest Anonymous
I bought the stealth audio microphones because they were the cheapest of the mics out there and i am very very impressed with the quality, and from what ive others heard they seem to be the best out there. cheers chris P.s their web address is www.stealthaudio.net p.p.s i use a sony mz-r90 and the mics work great with it
doclloyd
Thanks for the link. $40 isn't bad for a mic. Do you find the optional battery module to be a necessity, or does that really depend on what kind of recording I'm planning on doing? Guest Anonymous
I can field this one, no you probably wont need the battery module for what you are doing, as long as you arent recording loud sounds you will be fine with our standard binaurals. If you have any more questions email me at Stealth_audio@canada.com Thanks Scott Verbeek Stealth Audio www.stealthaudio.net
Guest Anonymous
I just checked the stealth site If doclloyd will be using the mics also for lectures, wouldn't it be recommended to rather use the cardioid ones to reduce the unwanted background noise? And - Scott, did you at stealthaudio make tests with shorter cable lenghts? Wouldn't this reduce the noise? Best wishes, Dominique
Guest Anonymous
good point noobie Cardoids probably would be a better option the mic would have to be pointed right at the sound source. Also the cable length has no major effect on the noise. Thanks Scott Stealth Audio www.stealthaudio.net
