merethrond
Hey, i'm interested in getting a home MD system, and i was just wondering what the difference between them is and the advantages of one from the other. Thank's.
Mystyler
A deck is basically a VCR-like box that only plays and records MDs, in a nutshell. Mini/micro systems usually offer a radio tuner and CD player and speakers.
KJ_Palmer
A deck should used as part of a separates system - typically an amplifier and speakers plus CD plus other components of your choice mixed and matched to make the 'ideal' sytem. Potentially the best sounding system, but costly, space consuming and needing plenty of tweaking to get it right. You can also use a deck with a standard hi-fi if it has aux inputs. As Mystyler says, a micro (or minisystem) does it all in one convenient box. Micros can sound good, don't need much setting up or space, and have handy features like hi-speed recording and timer recording eg. from the radio.
