It wont let me record optically from my computers sound card (sound blaster live platinum with live drive) or my sony CD player deck (CDP-CE235). When i attempt to record from these sources my r55 shows "NO SIGNAL" on the screen, the red light is coming down the cord. the strange thing is that i tried recording digitally from my sony DVD player (DVp-s535d) via the optial out on it, AND IT WORKED!!, PERFECTLY. My unit used to always record perfectly from the same cd player and the computer, but I had to get it fixed after having a problem with the battery compartment (by a SONY service centre) and since then it will not record from them. I use the same toslink - mini plug cord with all 3 sources and start the recordings in the same way. Could something have been 'bumped' when they were fixing it which has caused it to stop receiving from particular sources?????? any help would be greaty appreciated on this as it is out of warranty and repairs will no doubt cost a fortune.
