Broken MZ-R500 - Disc won't spin up

I have a quite serious problem with my MZ-R500 portable minidisc. I think somebody (but not me!) must have been sitting on it, because I noticed that the front panel was not straight anymore and I have to press quite strong to let the play button work. When I try to read a disc, the sound is very cracking.

I opened the case and saw that the magnetic/optical head is still moving left and right (quite noisy but still moving), but the disc itself won't spin up.

Then something strange: when I press on a certain part of the body (a bit under the rotor of the motor), the disc tries to spin up, be no succesfull read can be done.

Has anybody got some advice to mend this tiny but powerfull little thing?

greets,

Wim Ermens

Honestly guest, I would recommend that you send your unit to a Sony repair facility. There's not much that I think anyone could recommend, apparently since there's a good bit of physical damage to the internal components from what you're saying.

You might still be under warranty if you act quick; if not, then be prepared to shell out some serious $.
