hi,

just realised (after the fact) that this sh*t program won't allow me to upload tracks to different computers.

this didn't help after i had just reinstalled xp on my computer and lost everything on my program....

so now i've got about 5 mini discs that i can't delete!?

is there any way that i can just delete all the discs!? i'm sure/think that i can't delete straight from my md?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Baptist.

Here were the cure!

I have just the same problem (formatting minidisc) and ask some of my friends inside Sony Manuf. U can try this.

Go into service mode by doing this

(slide the hold button make it HOLD)

(while pressing -vol,) press (>)(>)(<)(<)(>)(<)(>)(<)(pause)(pause)

You can see Ver Bla! Bla!

then press (>) once you can see (manual 000)

press (+vol) five time until you see (AutCom 500)

press (enter) you can see (Access 510)

press (enter) you can see (XXXXCC 511)

press (>) seven time you can see (XXXS03 518)

press (-vol) until (XXXS03 518) become (XXXS00)

insert the disc and press (pause)

You will here some mechanism noise and DONE!

The disc is formatted like new (BLANKDISC)!

After that just remove the battery

I just try this but maybe some expert can add some safety precaution/advise here?

For expert just go to STEP 518 then step down (-vol key) XXXS03 to XXXS00 and press pause! The disc will be formatted.

FYI, I'm doing this with My MZ-N710

I appreciate the info provided you you all so far. I'm having trouble entering service mode on my MZ-N510. The above instructions don't seem to work. Does anyone know I can enter service mode with my unit? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yea i have the mz-n510 and had a fit becuase it wouldnt enter service mode. so i got to the point were i was pushing all the buttons, and then suddnely i entered it. so using the instructions, instead of holding down the -vol key, press group (like a shift key), and then press ff ff rr rr ff rr ff rr pause puase. it will work!

Thank you very much, and to the above poster:

With me, I don't have an old non-MDLP deck, I have a MZ-S1 (it worked wonders on it, by the way) and I had used it for months, and then I got an iPod for Christmas. I'm quite satisfied with the iPod, except for the fact that the battery life is dismal and it isn't as easy to just "grab and go" like my MD deck. So what I was planning on doing was wiping the MD I have clean, and using the MD player to have a few of my favorite albums on it, and swapping them when I got bored of them, and recording all of this through the line-in, so I wouldn't have to have the horrible software known as OpenMG touch my computer again.

The problem comes in the fact that I used that software before, and I couldn't wipe the disc completely clean (WTF is with that, Sony???) without reinstalling it. Not wanting to do that, I decided to look around on minidisc.org, and I stumbled across this little gem. Without this, I probably would have just let my player sit and collect dust. Once again, thanks a lot. The DRM sh** is the only reason the minidisc player is semi-failing, methinks.

i've been having trouble erasing my MDs (cuz i couldn't get hold of a non MDLP minidisc to erase the disc, don't know if that will work still havn't tried yet. the thought of actually going into a store and asking the sales clerk to use their's just to "try-it-out" did cross my mind.) but thanx to leorick's method i got them to erase laugh.gif at first i was in doubt of trying it, since i know nothing of service mode etc., incase anything were to happen to the MD N1 itself i'd be crying ohmy.gif , but i took the chance and, let's just say, have never been so happy to see the words "BLANK DISC" being displayed on the LCD screen. THANK YOU SO MUCH good.gif
