Samba
Might sound like a basic question but I am looking to buy a Minidisc player to add to my seperates, my amp is a Marantz PM66SE, it doesn't have an optical input so I assume I obviously need to look for one with coaxial. Also where do I hook it up to in the back of the amp, the Aux? And is it the same when I want to listen to it, do I need to select Aux on the amp? Any advice would be appreciated. KJ_Palmer
Are you looking for a minisc deck or portable player/recorder? If it's a deck you just need to connect its line out to a spare line in (not phono) on your amp. You get suitable (cheap) RCA cables with the deck. If you want a portable MD unit you'll need an RCA to minijack plug connected to the MD's headphone jack.
Samba
I'm after a deck, I already have a portable minidisc recorder (Sony NZ707 NetMD). So do I hook it up to the Aux then?
KJ_Palmer
Yes, the aux input will do, any of the inputs would be fine except phono. Then select Aux on your amp to play through your speakers. If you have a spare tape loop on your amp (it should say Tape1 or Tape 2 on the back with separate IN and OUT plugs), you might find that useful for recording to MD as well as playing. You'd need 2 RCA cables in that case.
